Yesterday
I tread cautiously, on the hillside
Leaving the madding crowd behind me
A silent moment in natures presence
And, the flowers smile like a new bride
The growl of rush hour traffic,
does not ring in my ear anymore.
I am left all to me and myself.
No more of that feeling which was sick.
My city was not like this before.
The grass was so much greener,
the lights were even brighter.
I am afraid none of which can be seen nomore.
The mangled buildings of steel and stone,
stand testimony to a bygone era.
Where life rode on fun and leisure.
None of the modern pains and groans.
What a price to pay for modernisation,
We are just slaves to routine.
Will we ever see the new dawn?
Or perish without anticipation.
